Gebo - EvergreenChildren's Greenhouse, Autumn of 2001
Gebo is the name of an ancient rune symbol discovered at the site where the greenhouse was developed. It means the gift and sacrifice of harmonious relationships.
This awesome (in the original sense of the word) structure was designed and constructed by Richard Laws on private land located on the edge of the 1000 acre Wise/Silent Forest (Bell Mountain Park) in Evergreen, Colorado. River Sage Products actively supported the creation and development of this inspiring and significant project.
Gebo highlights:
- We had our first planting in the autumn of 2001.
- Gego was unfortunately crushed in the spring of 2002 under 87 inches of snow!
- We rebuilt Gebo in 2003 and began our first planting in the spring.
- Gebo is operational from approximately March to November and is open to the community for greenhouse visits and forest hikes.
- Flowers, plants and fresh herbs that are grown in Gebo are available for purchase at the Evergreen and Conifer Farmers Markets. The proceeds support future children's greenhouse projects.
- During the summer we offer Children's gardening workshops and host an Internship program for high school students at Gebo.
